Humor in Second-Language Learning

There is a popular perception that learning a language is somewhat tedious for human beings. It could be easier for artificial intelligences, such as Data in Star Trek, which are typically portrayed in science fiction as having superior cognitive skills, but no sense of humor. However, the use of humor can, among other effects, significantly improve second-language learning for students.

In general, humor is likely to motivate the student to study with more fun (and as a result to learn more efficiently). Moreover, because humor frequently rests on cultural concepts such as social environment, taboos, stereotypes and so on, studying humor can lead to a deeper understanding of the target language. Finally, practice in the humorous forms of the target culture might allow a student to actively use humor in the same way a native speaker would, which increases the chances of genuine communication.

Introduction » Alternative B … European Commission

The European Commission has, according to the CIA made a secret agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other possibility. Aoccdrnig to a study at an Elingsh uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. Or rather ...

According to a study at an English University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself but the word as a whole.

What our brain does, while we are reading, is already amazingly, even if the statement of the freely invented study is generally wrong (although with a pellet of truth), according to the analysis of a scientist (Matt Davis, of the center for language, speech, and brain Cambridge University). There there is also the text in approximately 15 further languages.
